The reporter learned from Shenzhen Kangkesite Communication Equipment Co., Ltd. that China ’s independent IP68-grade GSM-R handheld terminal (handheld PDA), which is independently developed and manufactured by Kangkesite Communication, has passed internal testing and technical review. It is understood that the GSM-R standard is a new generation of digital railway command and dispatch communication system developed by the International Railway Union (UIC) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) for the European railway wireless mobile communication. Compared with the GSM network, the corresponding railway dedicated dispatching communication function has been added. In order to build a new generation of railway-oriented communication system in China, after 10 years of demonstration, the Ministry of Railways officially adopted the GSM-R standard as the national new-generation railway wireless communication standard in 2004. According to the "Master Plan for Railway Informatization", China will build a complete railway informatization system by 2020. One of the important contents is to synchronize with the construction of new and existing railway networks and reconstruction of existing lines, and to coordinate the construction of the Chinese railway GSM- R network. At present, all GSM-R handheld terminal devices are imported from abroad and are expensive, which greatly restricts the promotion and use of GSM-R handheld terminals. In this context, Shenzhen Kangkaisite Communication Equipment Co., Ltd. independently researched and developed and manufactured the CONQUEST S8-GSM-R railway GSM-R handheld terminal through technological follow-up. According to the relevant person in charge of Kangkaste Communication, the localization of GSM-R handheld terminals will greatly reduce costs and promote the use of GSM-R wireless networks.
